The General Overseer of Potter’s family Chapel, Prophet Alex Armstrong, has called on the wives of church ministers to pursue godly living as part of their calling as believers and co-labourers in ministry.
Speaking at one of the church meetings held at Potter’s family Chapel -Mercy Temple, behind Tatop Company on Sunday afternoon, Prophet Armstrong stated that the mission to ‘possess the nations’ can only be fulfilled by men and women who embody godliness.
‘The pastor’s wife has a responsibility to live a godly life. You are accountable for your own training in righteousness,” he stated, adding, “Train yourself in godliness, for godliness is devotion to God; it leads to a life that pleases Him.”
Addressing the theme, “The Godly Woman,” Prophet Armstrong quoted Christian author saying, “No higher compliment can be paid to a Christian than to call them godly.” He stressed that godliness must be the foundation of every aspect of the Christian life, leaving no room for alternatives.
He expressed concern over the tendency of some believers to appear religious while denying the power that leads to true godliness. To reinforce his message, he referenced several scriptures, including 1 Timothy 6:11, 2 Timothy 3:5, and 2 Peter 1:5.
Drawing lessons from the lives and ministries of Apostles Paul and Peter, Prophet Armstrong encouraged the participants to be effective and fruitful by embracing perseverance and discipline, which are hallmarks of the early church leaders.
“Discipline your eyes, ears, attitude and appetite in your walk with God,” he urged. ‘Be intentional in every area of your life and ministry. Know the Scriptures by reading, studying, meditating on them, and applying them. Set boundaries and operate within them, remembering that no discipline is pleasant at the time, but it yields lasting fruit.’
